Xmas Live x The Lathums

by Johanna Roelich

Christmas is here which means it’s time for a second year of fantastic talent coming together for our Xmas Live Campaign. This year however, there’s no surprise that the campaign differs to the last, but it’s all the more special, trust us. Think a dozen established and up-and-coming talent brought together in one gig-like event, to improve your Christmas massively.

To kick off the campaign, we have The Lathums, hailing from Wigan, UK.

The Lathums have shot out of nowhere over the last eighteen or so months, a rise which has seen the group make the jump from performing at pubs and clubs to selling out a huge UK tour, in what seems to feel like overnight. This quick success of the guys, is well and truly deserved, not only the talent of the band is on a whole other level, but the hard work and determination that has been poured into the band is clear.

Despite the postponed tours and missed festival appearances that have hampered their year, the Wigan four-piece have put the lost months to good use as they finish work on their debut record, a project which delivers a collaboration with The Coral’s James Skelly who is also at the helm for their jangly new ska-infused single ‘I Can See Your Ghost’. Despite all the obstacles standing in the way for a new band trying to make a name for themselves, somehow The Lathums have found a way to continue their mission into establishing and developing their sound into a soon-to-be arena conquering outfit. The guys have now secured a deal with Island Records and just played at the iconic Blackpool Tower with Jools Holland to release their new EP “I See Your Ghost”.

Next year will see Alex and co grace the stages of London’s Electric Ballroom, Manchester’s O2 Ritz, and The Academy in Dublin, and rejoin supporting Blossoms and Paul Weller on UK tours. There are big things lined up for this four-piece indie band, for sure.
