WHERE TO SPEND NYE ’21: The Best Events In Your City

by Matthew Thomas

It’s almost New Years Eve 2021 and here at scotts we are firm believers in having the best end to the year possible. When it comes to the end of the year, there are always two things on everyone’s mind… “where should we go?” and “what should we wear?”. Well, hopefully, we can answer both of those questions, below is a list of the most interesting places to go for NYE in your favourite cities and if you’re wondering what to wear then check out our dedicated Going Out edit for Shirts, Polos, Jeans and more.

Why not try ALCOTRAZ, THE PRISON COCKTAIL BAR this NYE. Based in Manchester and London, you can get in your orange jumpsuit and join the rest of the inmates for a truly unique night. You have the opportunity to smuggle your drinks in your way or get help from the guards. You can get involved with a bootlegging operation or just keep your head down. It really is up to you how you spend your sentence but what we know is it doesn’t get more unusual than spending your NYE in a metal prison cell with cocktail making inmates, corrupt guards and a stern warden.

Have you ever wanted to go back 100 years to the prohibition era? Well, you’re in luck as there are a few events in Manchester, Liverpool and London. In Manchester there is the GATSBY NEW YEAR’S EVE PARTY 2021 at Yours Restaurant, in Liverpool there is the NEW YEAR’S EVE FLAPPERS AND DAPPERS party at Peaky Blinders, in London there is the THE PROHIBITION PARTY NYE SPECIAL at the Village Underground as well as THE CANDLELIGHT CLUB NYE event. At most of the events, you’ll get to dress up in your swanky ’20s outfits and dance the night away as you loosen your inhibitions whilst hiding away from the prohibition agents. Think Peaky Blinders, The Great Gatsby, Jazz Music and Vintage Vinyls, does it get much better?

Everyone loves a good movie, so getting to see the new year in whilst reliving your favourite movie moments is an appealing idea. What if we told you it didn’t have to be an idea? That’s because there are events in Manchester and London that do just that. In Manchester, why not try the NEW YEARS EVE NO TIME TO DINE CASINO NIGHT at Prestwich Social where you’ll immerse yourself in a Bond-themed party where you’ll find casino tables, a shooting gallery and of course, Martini’s… shaken not stirred. In London, there is TARANTINO’S MIXTAPE at Venn St. Records where you’ll be able to travel through Tarantino’s greatest films with a Live DJ playing famous tracks from the likes of Pulp Fiction, Django Unchained and Kill Bill.

From Cuba to Hawaii to New York, many of us haven’t been on holiday for who knows how long now. So let’s jet off to another destination this NYE with a themed night. In Liverpool, you have the choice of spending the night in Germany at BIERKELLER LIVERPOOL or if you prefer a bit of warmth there is ALMA DE CUBA at Event Space where you’ll find themed drinks and get to party like the locals. If you’re in Leeds, you’ll find a dive style New York bar at MOJO LEEDS where you’ll get to enjoy rock ‘n’ roll music from the last decades. If you head over to TIKI HIDEAWAY in Leeds you’ll get to spend the night paying homage to all things Hawaiian.

For those of you who aren’t from Scotland, the scots name their NYE celebrations Hogmanay. It is the celebration of the New Year in true Scottish manner and usually entails continuing celebrations into the New Year morning. If you’re celebrating Hogmanay in Edinburgh then you’ll want to check out the NEW YEARS EVE BASH at Apex Grassmarket, apparently, they love to throw a party and have great views of Edinburgh Castle. Speaking of glorious views, THE LOOKOUT BY GARDENER’S COTTAGE boasts some of the best views of Edinburgh City and Castle, better yet you’ll get to enjoy authentic Scottish grub. If you’re looking for more of a “Party Party” and love a bit of Drum and Bass then the DRUM & BASS HOGMANAY at the Bongo Club sounds right up your street.

No matter what you’re doing to celebrate NYE there is plenty happening all over the country so you’re sure to find something that suits you. The most important thing is to celebrate safely, follow government guidelines and enjoy the start of what we all at scotts hope is a much more positive year for everyone. Have a Happy New Year (Hogmanay) and keep your eye’s on our social platforms for the exciting things we have planned for 2022.
