It’s that time of year again and you can’t escape it…. Valentine’s Day is approaching and the world is not letting us forget it. It’s all over the radio, TV, social media and the rest. What does that mean for the single lads among us? It means, you’ve got a cracking weekend to look forward to as we’ve got your plans sorted.

Hang out with your mates

We know what you’re thinking – “my mates are all out with their other halves” but don’t worry, we’ve thought about that, we’ve all been there after all! Text that guy that you haven’t spoken to in a while or get back in touch with the lad that doesn’t have much luck on Valentine’s Day. Have a kickabout, grab a takeaway, get yourselves down to the pub… Sorted.

How about a comedy show?

Valentine’s Day is no time to be drowning your sorrows. Why not have a laugh instead? A comedy club can be a great option when it comes to Valentine’s Day. What’s more, plenty of venues and comedians have realised that there’s loads of people out there looking for a laugh on the most romantic day of the year. So there’s plenty to choose from. Just be prepared that the laughs may be aimed at us single folk… You don’t have to go big and get spenny, there are so many comedy nights around the city that you’re sure to have a blast at.

Stay clear of social media

This is rule number one. No successful Valentine’s Day involves social media, whether you’re single or not. There’s nothing worse than scrolling through a feed filled with endless pictures of food, flowers, cute puppies, jewellery, proposals, and the rest! We’re happy for you taken lot, don’t get us wrong. But there’s no need.

Treat yourself to some new clobber

Valentine’s Day can be a great chance to refresh your look and reassess your style choices. We’ve got the staples right here at scotts. A pair of Gazelle’s paired with a Fred Perry Polo and Armani Jeans and your sorted for that pint with your pal.

Get out of town

Valentine’s Day is a perfect excuse to escape the city and give yourself a little ‘you’ time. This is especially good if you’re recently single. Pack a bag, jump on a train or a plane, and get yourselves to a place that will totally take your mind off the ‘holiday’. Taking a trip alone could be just what you need to detox your mind – whether you think you need it or not! Pamper yourself lads, it does wonders! Not feeling like taking a trip alone, then grab a mate or a family member. The air feels different everywhere you go..

Go Out and Meet Women

It sounds counter-intuitive, but Valentine’s Day is actually one of the best nights of the year to meet women. It’s not the fact that the women out are “easy pickings” or anything like that that we hear so much about: It’s just that all the women in bars tend to be single, as the ones who are taken are out on dates. So hit up your favourite bar or club and try and meet someone – it’s actually a lot easier than you think.

Netflix marathon, pizza and turn your phone off

If you don’t feel like leaving the house this Valentine’s Day, we understand that. So why don’t you switch on the TV, grab some fast food and a few snacks and spend hours binging your favourite shows, or even that series you just haven’t found the time to kick start. It’s the perfect way to distract your brain.

Treat it like any other day

Need we say more? Just crack on lads.
