Back To The Bars | Top 10 Walk-In Bars For Spring 2021; The Manchester Edit

by Joshua Thompson

With the lockdown easing in Manchester, the amount of people flocking to the streets for a drink with their mates is out of this world. Tables being booked left, right and centre for that beer garden pint and a catch up in person (Zoom, who?) have been the talk of the town for the past 2 weeks now.

Don’t worry if you’re late to the party making those plans or, like us, you’re struggling to get a table booked anywhere because we’re here to help! We’ve complied a quick list below of our favourite bars in Manchester that are accepting walk-ins. See you there!

Alvarium, Northern Quarter

With pints, classic & house cocktails and choices of wines and soft drinks – what more could you possibly want? Throw in something from the fantastic selection of vegan food options and you’ve got yourself an afternoon sorted! Alvarium are open for walk-ins only until 17th May.

The Wharf – Castlefield

Another one of Castlefield’s most popular pubs with a large outdoor seating area, The Wharf has made the decision to reopen for walk-ins from this week, and you can find menus, opening times and more information on the website here.

Folk – Didsbury

One of Didsbury’s most popular and quirky bars is once again open for business. The bar is popular for its selection of craft beers and ciders, quality street food and the best music going. Head to Folk this spring and enjoy a vibrant atmosphere with friends.

YES – Charles Street

YES Manchester has made the decision to hold all tables back and reopen for walk-ins only from this week, so you can find menus, opening times and more information via the website here.

The Font, Chorlton

Fan of cheap cocktails, pints of craft beer and a cheeky bit of pub grub? Aren’t we all! Head down to The Font in Chorlton and take your mates with you because you really don’t want to miss their massive selection of IPAs to stouts to cocktails and everything in between. The Font give you the option to book a table but are also accepting walk-ins – winner!

Bunny Jacksons, Spinningfields

Happy Hour (or five) anyone? You heard it here first… Bunny Jacksons (near Gas Works / Home Cinema) is offering five whole Happy Hours (12pm-5pm) every single day which includes £3 pints and £5 frozen daiquiris plus loads more. A self-proclaimed ‘messy’ food menu and a spicy chicken wing challenge with a free T-shirt for competing? Sign us up!

Cane and Grain – Northern Quarter

Another one of the Northern Quarter’s most popular hangouts, Cane and Grain has made the decision to reopen for walk-ins on a first-come-first-served basis, and you can find menus, opening times and more information via the website here.

Head of Steam, Didsbury

This beer menu is honestly one of the best we’ve ever seen. The DIPA’s, IPA’s and more Belgian beers than you’ll probably be able to get through in one day. Open for walk-ins every Friday, Saturday and Sunday, this really is the best way to spend your weekend and not have to worry about the temptation to go during the week and end up with a midweek hangover!

Corn Exchange, Exchange Square

This one is definitely our favourite… 6 bars all offering walk-ins since they reopened! (Mini Bar Crawl?) Banyan, The Cosy Club, Salvi’s, Zizzi, Vapiano and Dehli House Café are all open and ready for walk-ins. Food, drinks and a different vibe from every place makes this the perfect afternoon. You can check out the menus and opening times on the Corn Exchange website here
