Last weekend we went over to Doncaster to catch Twisted Wheel kick off their Nomad Hat Tour and these guys were supporting. The energy that The Jack Fletcher Band brought with them was refreshing to see for a younger band and their talent is something not to go unnoticed.

Lead singer Jack has insane, powerful indie rock vocals, alongside George with his harmonious guitar riffs, Henry’s steady bass and a strong drum sound by Tom, these guys are one to look out for. That being said, we thought we’d catch up with the guys to hear about their story.

Introduce yourselves and tell us a little bit about how the band got together.

There are four members in The Jack Fletcher Band. Jack plays Guitar/Lead Vocals, George Lead Guitar, Henry on Bass and Tom on drums.

Do you remember the first time you realised you had something special, and if so, when was it? Set the scene!

The first couple of gigs we played we thought something was there. We felt tight as a band, quick at getting songs together etc. Also recording our first EP we were very happy from what we were hearing.

What have been your biggest motivations into following your dream?

The thing that motivates us is how much we love it. Playing live, recording, writing original music. Like many people who write their own music we want it to be our job. Thats why we are so determined to keep going, we know what we want. We are more than willing to put the graft in.

You have a strong working relationship with Twisted Wheel. You’ve supported them several times (most recently a couple of weekends ago in Doncaster) and Johnny Brown has actually performed with you on stage. How did this collaboration start?

We first met Jonny at a gig in Derby. Got talking and became mates. We’ve always been fans of Twisted Wheel since 2009. When he agreed to come on stage with us unrehearsed, now that was a right buzz for us. He’s always been supportive to us, he’s a true gent.

What’s the best gig you’ve ever been to? (as a fan and to perform)

We have to answer this separately.

Jack – First seeing Richard Ashcroft blew my little mind.

George – I would have to say seeing The Foo Fighters at the NEC.

Henry – Got to be seeing The Stone Roses for me at V Festival.

Tom – Mine would have to be Oasis at Heaton Park. Supported By Kasabian, The Enemy and Twisted Wheel. What a line up.

You’ve got a few festivals lined up this summer, Ashfest and Crib Fest to name just a couple, but what else can your fans look forward to from you guys this year?

Lots more gigs all around the UK, trying to play to as many people as possible. We also have a new single out this summer then maybe a new EP at the end of the year. So there will be lots happening.

What’s your favourite part of being in The Jack Fletcher Band?

Just being 4 best mates love doing what we do. Taking a song written in a bedroom on an acoustic guitar, then taking it round the world.

What’s the biggest challenge you’ve faced as a band since starting out?

Trying to get Tom to turn up on time and for George to remember his Capo. It may happen one day.

Are there any particular up and coming bands that stand out to you guys at the minute?

We would like to shout out to our pals Smokin Eskimo and Crest Glider. We like a band called The Reytons. Would also like to thank The Sherlocks for letting Jack open up for them in Europe, those boys are doing really well.

What advice would you give someone trying to break it into the music scene?

Keep trying and never give up. Work hard and just enjoy it.

To end on, tell us something not many people know about you

Not one of us have had a musical lesson. We are all self taught.

Kit out your gig gear with our latest arrivals.
