Halloween is just around the corner, so it’s time to get together with your mates and whack out the horror films. Celebrate the spooky season the right way, grab your favourite snacks, sit back and relax (or not). If you’re stuck on what to watch, we have you covered with a mix of the latest and greatest horror films ever made.

The Exorcist (1973)

One of the most iconic horror films ever created is the tale of an exorcism, based loosely on true events. Released in 1973, this terrifying horror shares the story of a teenage girl who is possessed by a mysterious entity. The film unfolds as the girl’s mother seeks the help of two priests to save her daughter. Come face to face with evil as you watch this American classic. This is always a winner.

IT 2 (2019)

If you thought the IT was terrifying, are you ready for the return of Pennywise for IT 2? 27 years after their first encounter with the chilling clown, Pennywise, the Losers Club have grown up and moved away. Life is great and everything is sweet – not for long obviously, it wouldn’t be much of a film if it all ended there, until a devastating phone call brings them back to Maine. This supernatural horror definitely isn’t for the faint-hearted.

The Conjuring (2013)

Another spectacular horror film is The Conjuring, which takes ‘haunted house’ to a whole new level.  The film follows paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren, who work to help a family who is being terrorised by a dark presence in their new home – which happens to be a secluded farmhouse, obviously.

Halloween (1978)

Fifteen years after murdering his sister on Halloween night 1963, Michael Myers escapes from a mental hospital and returns to the small town of Haddonfield, Illinois to kill again. This American slasher is guaranteed to have you on the edge of your seat.

Saw (2004)

A truly twisted film that feels almost too realistic, is Saw. Two strangers, who awaken in a room with no recollection of how they got there, soon discover they’re pawns in a deadly game perpetrated by a notorious serial killer.

The Shining

The argument continues with this one, is it really a horror? Well, it gives off chills so it’s sticking. This ‘thriller’ is an all time favourite of many around the globe, a true classic, Jack Nicholson at his finest (got it yet?) That’s right, The Shining.

A man becomes a caretaker at a hotel to help cure his writer’s block. If you haven’t seen this film already, you’ve probably seen The Simpsons episode, so I think you know what happens next! Classic movie, stick it on.

Enjoy your Halloween!
