The 5 Most Annoying Christmas Songs Of All Time…

Music / December 7, 2018
by Johanna Roelich

Christmas is just around the corner so what better way to celebrate than compiling a round up of the most irritating Christmas songs of all time? Exactly, there isn’t one. We asked you guys to tell us which Christmas song gets under your skin, so I decided to put them all together, for no reason at all, other than to spread that (not so much) Christmas cheer.

Before I get started, I just want to make it clear that this isn’t about attacking the very talented artists (well, some of them are) listed below, it’s more about the tracks that we’ve just had enough of by December 3rd. No hard feelings.

Madonna – Santa Baby

Queen of Pop Madonna is a definite for this list thanks to her version of Marilyn Monroe’s Santa baby. If you haven’t heard this version and you enjoyed the original, you might want to stay clear.

Wham – Last Christmas

This is a classic, don’t get me wrong but as soon as December 2nd comes along you’ve already heard it more times than you can keep a track of.  This is a bit of a fragile one since the legend himself, George Michael passed last Christmas (pun not intended) and I’ll be honest, it affected my decision on this for a few minutes. But I asked you guys what you wanted up there and this was number one. This is on you.

Mariah Carey – All I want For Christmas

Not sure where to start on this one… I’m going to go out on a whim here and say that to most of you think Mariah Carey is a queen (not just a diva), so there might be a few of you to disagree with this, but the song is overkill and quite frankly, plain irritating. The very moment those bells start jingling and the drone comes out, a part of me (a very small part) makes me wish Christmas was over.

Wizzard – I Wish It Could Be Christmas Every Day

Obviously this is one of the most successful Christmas songs of all time, but that sort of adds the level of irritation… Right? It’s everywhere, for the whole of December. It’s a brilliant song to start with – when December first kicks off, but by the time January comes along you begin to wish that it will never be Christmas, ever, ever again.

Justin Bieber – Mistletoe

This by all means is no classic, it’s sung by a 17 year old Bieber who’s aim was to win over more of the school girls hearts’. Pretty sure it worked, hats off to him. It’s one of the cringiest songs of all time (i’m not exaggerating) trying to mix the classic sound of Christmas with the typical Bieber stuff, with lyrics like “I don’t wanna miss out on the holiday, but I can’t stop starin’ at your face” followed by “shawty with you, under the mistletoe.” If you haven’t heard it yet, I wouldn’t.
