Sunderland six piece and indie-rock revivalists, Social Room have been on top form for a few years now, but this year is proving to be on another level. Last week the band released a brand new single and video; It’s Not Goodbye, which is an anthemic track complete with pounding rhythms, pulsating synth and big riffs that will no doubt be filling the fields of many a festival this summer.

We thought we’d catch up with the guys to get the low-down on their year so far from behind closed doors, and to see what’s next for them.

Big things are happening for you guys at the minute. You’ve just released your new single “It’s Not Goodbye” and its video has had a great reaction so far! Congratulations!

We caught up with you a couple months ago after seeing you in Manchester. What have the last few months been like for you – pretty full on we can imagine?

Yeah it has been full on. We have been out playing gigs, recording and shooting the new video so we haven’t stopped. We played our first show outside the UK in Madrid which was unreal. We love it over there.

What was the inspiration behind “It’s Not Goodbye”?

This year has been non stop and the first year that we have been all over the country most weekends. It’s all about that really. Been away and having to leave everyone behind. We wanted a summer feel good song also and we knew this had to be the next release.

With the band being in the limelight quite a bit recently with these releases, there must be a tour coming up? When and where can your fans come and check you out?

We have a tour in may coming up with two massive headline shows for this feeling. We play;
Stockton / Ku bar 11.5.19 ( This Feeling)
Bishop Auckland / rugby club 17.5.19
Leeds / lending room 18.5.19 ( This Feeling )
This is tomorrow/ festival Newcastle 25.5.19

Festival season is just kicking off, we’ve seen you’re at Isle Of Wight Festival (which is epic), what other festivals can we expect to see you at?

First off we are at “This Is Tomorrow ” at Newcastle. Noel Gallagher is headlining and to be on the same bill has blown us away. Isle of Wight is second and we can’t thank This Feeling enough for having us down on their stage .  Then we play Kubix Festival in Sunderland with the likes of Black Grape , Embrace , Echo and the Bunny Men with the stranglers headlining. We also play shine on at the back end of the year so we are busy busy.

What festivals are you most looking forward to, and why?

This is tomorrow because the line up is unreal and the isle of wight just for how massive a festival it is. I actually went when I was 16 and now I’m back playing it , couldn’t be happier.

Will you be attending any festivals this year just fun?

I always try and get to Hardwick live. We actually played the main stage last year so hopefully in-between our shows I might go back there.

Have you got any new releases coming up that we can have a little teaser of?

We want to put another 2 singles out this year but it’s early days and don’t have any recording as yet but yous will be the first to hear when we do.

What has been your biggest highlight of 2019 so far?

So far it has to be Madrid. Amazing feeling when your music takes you to new places. The crowd the crack the whole trip was unreal.

What are you most looking forward to for the rest of this year?

We are most looking forward to playing live, releasing new music and enjoying been on the road .

Thank you for taking the time to chat with scotts and we’ll see you in Isle Of Wight!

Check out where and when you can catch the guys.

Get your gig wardrobe kitted out.
