The Second Coming: Fred Perry X Miles Kane Autumn 18

by Aidan Jenner

In recent years Fred Perry have skilfully excavated their ties to the world of music, using it as an opportunity to form new bonds with a current crop emerging and established artists.

Heavyweights such as Don Letts and Carl Barat have been joined by young guns Cosmo Pyke and Slaves on the brand’s list of subculture influencers. For Autumn 18 Fred Perry are taking it one step further. The brand will release a second capsule collection in collaboration with former frontman of The Rascals and one half of The Last Shadow Puppets, Miles Kane.

The exciting collection reinvents a series of Fred Perry classics. The archival pieces appear to acknowledge both Kane’s native England and his adopted home, Los Angeles. It is the latter of those locations though which most obviously permeates the range. There are traces of the early days of Hollywood lounge-wear. The combination of sporting silhouettes with muted luxury fabrics creates indisputably cool clothes. This is stuff that’s taken a lot of consideration. Kane’s clearly blessed with the touch of a Fred enthusiast and armed with a keen sense for detail and style.

As we mentioned Kane and Fred Perry bring hints of American cool to our British fashion heritage. It’s really hard not to think of Carlos Santana nailing a face-melting guitar solo in one of his famous tracksuits when you look at this gear. It’s hard not to think of Steve ‘The King of Cool’ McQueen, complete with signature shades, rocking some of this stuff with an open collar while winding down from a day on set. But you get the point. It’s just that kind of slick stylish stuff. We love it. We reckon it’s going to be one of the best collaborations of the year.

We’ll leave you with this teaser for now, but keep an eye out for the collection which is available here now.
