Fantasy Football: Your Wildcard Is Back

by Olivia Mannix

It’s decision time. Your wildcard has been renewed, there are some big matches ahead and of course, the first all-important Double Gameweek of the season is just around the corner. The question is, will you be using your wildcard this week, or do you have some alternative tactics under your belt? Either way, here is everything you need to know about our favourite FPL chip.

The wildcard allows you to make unlimited free transfers throughout a Gameweek. You can start your team from scratch, removing any point deductions you would normally incur. The idea is that you use your wildcard when you want to make multiple changes to your team – injuries, underperforming players? Not to worry, the wildcard is the answer to all of your problems!

With Double Gameweeks looming, the wildcard is also a great option to help boost your team. Check out who is playing – you really need to be tactical with this chip. Make sure you take advantage and improve your team with premium talent so that your points start to stack up.

However, don’t feel under pressure to use your wildcard. It is easy to get wrapped up in the renewal excitement, but if you have a team that is performing well, don’t waste it. There are plenty of Double Gameweeks throughout the season where you can become the dark horse with your unused wildcard! We recommend biding your time and only using the function when absolutely necessary.

The wildcard may be the perfect solution if your team is looking a bit poor, so here is how you can use it if you’re going to take the plunge. Simply, start by making transfers in your squad and then select “Play Wildcard” at the bottom of the app screen. Once you have played your wildcard, you are allowed to make as many transfers as you wish until the Gameweek deadline.

What will you be doing this Gameweek?
