Fantasy Football Scout Report

by Chris Balding

As we move into gameweek 22 we see some big matchups this weekend including the north London derby and top of the table clash between Manchester City and Chelsea. Other notable fixtures include Newcastle Vs Watford, if Newcastle can win they can lead frog Watford and exit the relegation zone, and the Manchester United Vs Aston Villa which could see Philippe Coutinho play his first game for Villa after passing his medical.

Many big names are missing from this week’s action due to the African Cup of Nations taking place so don’t be expecting to see the likes of Mane, Salah and Mahrez.

Diogo Jota (£8.3m)

The first player we want to focus on is Diogo Jota, like mentioned above Liverpool are missing their main attacking threats but fear not Liverpool fans as Jota is a stellar replacement and with them taking on Brentford at home we expect Jota to add to his impressive tally so far. It is also worth mentioning that Brentford are without their midfield rock Frank Onyeka who is currently on international duty in the African Cup of Nations and in Brentford’s previous game they got destroyed by Southampton without him.

Philippe Coutinho (£7m)

This is more a speculative pick but could Coutinho get off to a great start for Villa. We all know he’s struggled for form and gametime while playing at Barca but now he is ready to make a statement playing for his old mate Gerrard. We all know he possesses all the skills to be a top player, we believe now he is the main man again we might see him put on a show and become the player he was at Liverpool. Villa take on Manchester United this weekend who beat them 1-0 in the FA Cup so they will be wanting revenge.

Joelinton (£5.8m)

Looking at his stats for the season this might be a shock pick for your team but with Eddie Howe moving Joelinton to the midfield is a touch of class as he proved in the game against Manchester United earlier in the season. With the low price tag Joelinton might be a great bargain and with his recent performances he should be brimming with confidence and with their game against struggling Watford who are missing quite a few of their key players, Joelinton could pick up a few points for your team.

Alexis Mac Allister (£5.3m)

Mac Allister has started to play more for Seagulls in recent games and has paid back his manager’s confidence in him by doubling his tally in their last game Everton which saw him score a brace. He’s a cheap pick and with them playing Crystal Palace in their next game this could be the time to choose him for your team as Palace are missing key players to the African Cup of Nations most notably Zaha, Ayew and Kouyaté.

Ibrahima Diallo (£4.5m)

Southampton have flown under the radar this season and are slowly creeping up the table and with their recent 4-1 win against Brentford we expect their form to continue. One player who has been key to their recent success is Ibrahima Diallo and procured his best performance so far against the Bees. He looked sharp and provided two assists in the game and we should hopefully see him cause some headache for Wolves this weekend.
